Garment 101: Romey Gathered Dress
PLEASE CHECK THE DATES! Because of our date restrictions, we cannot refund or transfer class fees. If you need to cancel and we have a waitlist for this course, I will do my best to fill your seat to facilitate a refund.
Students bring:
- sewing machine & all accessories
- fabric shears, pins, marking pen, basic sewing notions
- all-purpose thread to coordinate with fabric
- new sz. 12-14 needles for your machine
No pajama pants here-- we're making REAL garments in this two-day course!
1. Grab your pattern!
Choose from the SewHouse Seven Romey top or dress!
2. Make sure your machine is in good working order!
Just because the lights come on doesn't mean it works-- just give it a test run before attending class. Sew a bit, wind a bobbin, etc to be sure you'll end the class with a garment.
3. Choose fabric and PREWASH and PRESS!
To make sure your dress or top fits, we want to eliminate any shrinkage before we cut into your fabric. For your first one, I recommend light weight cotton/wovens, chambray, linen, and if you're confident, rayon.
Students-- you will get a heads-up phone call so that I can offer help choosing fabrics. Please don't wait until the last minute to sign up, you'll have to prewash and dry your fabrics to make a well-done garment!
